Our Path to Licensure & Accreditation
Current Regulatory Status
NBU is NOT currently licensed, accredited, approved, or authorized to confer degrees.
Licensure vs. Accreditation
Licensure: Legal permission from the DC Higher Education Licensure Commission (HELC) to operate and grant degrees in Washington, DC.
Accreditation: A separate, voluntary peer-review process verifying academic quality, which requires state licensure as a prerequisite.
Institutional Roadmap & Commitments
DC Licensure Process: Actively preparing operational, governance, and academic systems to meet all HELC regulatory standards.
Future Accreditation Objectives: Laying the necessary foundation to pursue recognized institutional accreditation once licensed.
Academic Quality & Transparency: Designing rigorous, practice-oriented programs while maintaining clear, honest communication about our regulatory journey.
